why ps3 hardware and games suck, why xbox 360 hardware sucks but games are good and why the Wii is large and in charge for now…..

So Kotaku.com had an interesting article about how and why 360s crap out so much. Heres the actual article. I would love to own an Xbox 360 elite but the horrendous layout and design for the system makes me think twice. I also do not want to ever get my console serviced considering I have never had to get one serviced on warranty in that consoles current generation period. I wish not to start a good trend now on this system. Oh and also the ridiculous battery pack to recharge the wireless controls. Why couldn’t they just have integrated the battery into the controller like the PS3 controller and have it charge via USB. I would love to get a Xbox 360 so I can play games like, Crackdown, upcoming Blue Dragon, Overlord, and possibly Halo 3 or BioShock. Im not a huge fan of Halo franchise, but don’t get me wrong the multiplayer is pretty fun.
::edit::
As for the PS3, hardware is so hard to make games for and the gimmick of motion sensor add ins for games are causing huge slumps and bad reviews for the console. Personally, I bought the PS3 for the amazing line up of games I heard of on launch. Launch games were delayed, and upcoming games in winter of 06 and start of 07 killed the PS3. Just like how it killed the PS2 for gaming. The difference that made PS2 sky rocket was because that the DVD format was already established as the new media format(having no competition). I believe right now, the only a couple things thats keeping the PS3 selling are, 500$ blu-ray player, the decrease in price from 600$ to 500$, and did I mention blu-ray?
Ahh now it comes down to the Nintendo Wii. Amazing. Simply amazing. For being so “next gen” this system has done what the NES did for the mass public. Made games open to the masses. It has made no target like Microsoft and Sony. The biggest flaw currently, gimmicky games, mini game type games (Mario party 8, Raving Rabbits, and Wii Play. The coveted Red Steel was supposed to be the future of FPS but it fell on its face with humility. I personally do not know how much longer Nintendo can sell with out amazing games. As the Wii will surpass the overall sales and become #1, I wonder how many non-gamers buy a Wii. Without that online network, or easy to play online games, I’m guessing at least another 40 million consoles, but with the lowered prices of the 360 and PS3 and the ton of exclusive games coming out to those system, Nintendo will have a nice battle to fend off the previous heavy weights.
My 2 cents since the release of the Xbox news and warranty site
I own a Wii and PS3
::Edit::
The Bad :
I forgot to mention that now, developers are making Harddrive required games. That basically just destroys the core console selection on the 360.
Also, You know what will keep Sony’s “Mercedes of consoles” system in last place? Losing really important exclusive games(Assassins Creed, UT3, Devil May Cry and episodic content for GTA 4) just to name a few.
The GOOD: You might ask me what the good is. Honestly the only good I see is the amazing games coming out this fall and winter season. Halo 3 will be a smash blockbuster hit, Assassins Creed will surely do well, Super Smash will sell about 20 million more Wiis. I see an uproar in all 3 console sales and probably about an increase of 60% in console sales over the last winter season.

Whats so ridiculus about the battery pack??i prefer it to the in built design.Charges quick enough, and i can use AA batteriess if i want. Giving the Consumer the choice is always a good thing.Plus batteries can only be recharged so man times. That means a new pad if its built in.PLus the charge cable is like 3ft long isnt it?
I must say after owning a psx, ps2 and psp the 360 is a breath of fresh air. Yes its noisey if you have your tv on mute, or may brake if its not properly ventilated but theres just something about it. i havent been so excited about a console since the snes, id really suggest you get one when the falcon chipset comes out this fall.

I plan on getting it, but recent reports have the 360 coming out with the falcon chipset in early 2008. I dont ever plan on getting a 360 till the new chipset comes out. I think the 360 has tons of potential as a system in the future, but the biggest problem i see if hardware. With the recent reports of ID’s RAGE coming out in hte future, making the 360 carry 2 dvds and the only needed 1 bluray. To me i see this as the biggest downfall of the system. And about choices, i dont really think they were aiming the 2 console idea to gamers. Im pretty sure most gamer over the age of 11 would of purchased the 399 xbox not the 299 xbox. Microsoft, was extremly smart to bring out the 2 price points. One with a brick in a box and one with the goodies. When parents ran for the 360s over the holidays, they saw a cheaper system that was barebones, thinking they would have what they needed. But later in a few months finding out they would have to buy for their whiney child a hard drive to download games, headset, wireless controller and all that stuff. My brother was 12 when that came out and even said you have to be utterly retarded to buy the core 360.
Choices yes, but i think it was more on the smart buisness solution to aim at parents, not at the hard core gamers. IMHO, thats what i think and saw that as. And yes i have lived in an apartment for about 5 months where the 360 was the main console. Ive had my fair share of playtime on the 360. I got to expierence the awesome power of the disc tray breaking, the xbox red ring of death and the many trips to Bestbuy to return it under extended warranty.

rumor has it that sony just sealed exclusivity to the rest of the gta series whether that is true or not is to be debated…

You must really hate Sony.
August 6th, 2007 at 6:21 pm

thats why i am not a fanboy, sony is just fucking up its a FACT.
August 6th, 2007 at 9:56 pm
Dude…stop getting on Sony. They have great systems. Sorry that they don’t care too much about Gears of War, Halo, or any other “360 EXCLUSIVE!!!” game.
The PS3’s graphics are better than the 360’s, and there’s going to be great games soon for it.

Kevin is such a fan boy

you know it. The way u said all that stuff to me the other day, the tone, u definitly sounded like a fan boy. Specially with that Devil May Cry article way back when and the E3 thing.
I love sony, i just know when sonys acting like a frikkin tard about business. Theyve been king of the hill for a decade plus and they are acting like children when MS and Nintendo finally bring them competition.
The original Xbox was not competition, it was a complete joke. This is the real time sony has ever had comp.
And yes, i own literally everything sony except for my laptop(Macbook)
August 6th, 2007 at 11:36 pm
You seem like the opposite of Kevin.
August 7th, 2007 at 1:04 am
you had a sony computer, we converted you mahahaha
and i assure you polar opposites in most cases similiar taste in games though
August 7th, 2007 at 10:00 am
i have a sony desktop.
and i still use it.
I also have an HP desktop and a custom desktop sitting in my room right next to my sony desktop
August 7th, 2007 at 2:14 pm
what was your name before by the way?
August 8th, 2007 at 2:14 am
GodHand
i wrotel ike 4 articles if that
and i forgot hte password and it never worked when i asked kevin to change it. so i got tired of it and just wrote for one of my buddies website.
I was posting deals on gaming related stuff or just good prices on electronics.
And yes, kevin and i have similar taste in games. I on the other hand, was never impressed with Halo. It was good, but it was the game that changed the FPS. HL, Duke Nukem, Doom, Quake and Unreal changed the Fps in the 3d generation. Halo just took what was good in some of each game and copied/paste it. It was decent but not a top 10 game of all time for me

I strongly dissagree,
For one thing if you want people to stop getting on sony, then dont diss the 360 either,
i mean cmon,
yeah ps3 may get good games, and their graphics might be better,
But if you ask me the xbox 360 and the ps3’s graphics look hella similar to me.
I mean, honestly, Sony is failing harcore because of their systems price,
they think because that its better,
here, here, and here,
compared to other systems
that it should be the “best” system.
and thats not the only reason.
yeah there maybe good games comming out,
…in 2008.
but by then Nintendo and Microsoft would have already taken the cake.
They have to produce some good game now,
to keep us hungry gamers still thriving on Sony.
I think its safe to say,
Sony needs to get their shit together.
August 8th, 2007 at 2:20 am
Also,
I got nothing against “SONY”
But the whole deal right now with the PS3.
Is a big problem.
I mean,
I would take my PS2 over my xbox and gamecube anyday.
August 8th, 2007 at 2:26 am
And also!!
lol,
About the whole entire topic here,
Theres no need to even slighty worry about the Wii failing in game line-ups,
yeah there hasnt been many good ones,
same with the ps3.
But Super Smash Bros. Brawl??
Melee kept gamers entertain for 6 years ever since its release in 2001.
Brawl will be just as good.
And not to mention the tons of new games,
Like Mario Galaxy, Upcoming fire emblem games,
and even the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles series.
The wii has alot comming,
in just little time
August 8th, 2007 at 2:28 am
And i just realized, after NOW reading the end of your article,
That you already mentioned almost everything i said.
lol
August 8th, 2007 at 3:26 am
HAHAHHA yeah….
but just the like the ps2. The hardware was impossible to create games for. The only reason the ps3 games and xbox game graphics are simliar is due to the lack of understanding of the ps3 hardware. Every development team has expressed their pain by telling Sony that it is hard to create games for the system because of the complexity of the console. Thats why games like Madden are pushed in the slums cause EA cant figure out how to make the game as good as the 360 counterpart. the 360 also has a full year on the ps3 and wii. If games right now where still poor with a year under publishers belt, then we would have a huge problem, but we dont. The ps3 definitly needs more time. It still has huge amazing potentials. The only thing right now i see as a huge problem for microsoft is the decision for Hd-dvd. If it fails, then microsoft is gunna have to adopt the bluray format to keep games a 1 disc game or make hardrives easier to install on the 360, instead of making it a proprietary type HD.
I looked at the systems, sat down and thought to myself. Great, we have a huge problem on our hands. its gunna be the war of disc formats, with heavily influences on the game industry effecting those sales. We also have the argument of who do publishers create games for? With the increasing sales of nintendo and the motion sensor games, its hard to find the niche with 3 platforms trying to change the industry in different ways.
August 8th, 2007 at 10:31 am
Honestly Tristan, doesn’t the article title seem a bit arrogant?
The only reason I get on the 360 is because everyday I hear the same shit from people - “dude the 360 rocks! the ps3 isn’t that great”. Not from you guys, but from others.
It gets annoying after a while, so you learn to build up a little “wall” whenever the subject rolls around. That’s why I get irked at Kevin when we’re talking and he’ll suddenly bring it up.
August 8th, 2007 at 5:11 pm
haha yeah.
it does seem arrogant.
But anyway.
I just thought id get my point out there.
lol.
The whole topic had “Argument” written all over it anyway
August 8th, 2007 at 5:55 pm
Argument is as argument does.
August 9th, 2007 at 9:12 pm
That is true my good friend.

When people finally get over that graphics don’t make games, the Wii is a prime example of this, then there would be more of an arguement. Graphics are a bonus, and I personally love the 360 graphics. However, the Wii is doing amazingly well though it has the poorest graphics of the 3, too many PS3 fans believe that the graphics win over anything which is poor, making them look like they don’t care about the game.
I choose game over graphics. I still do play games on older consoles, much older, and don’t have a problem with terrible looking graphics. Right now, i’m sticking to the 360, the PS3 only has MGS4 for me and it’s not looking like that much of a loss at the moment. The 360 has so much going for it at the moment - Live Arcade (opens up a whole new world of gaming), New releases for the coming winter and development of an upgraded system.
I’ll give the PS3 another year, like I do most consoles, i’m afraid with the 360, it was love at first sight.

SONY ROCKS … PS ROCKS … PS2 ROCKS … PS3 ROCKS …
