Halo 3 Walkthrough

RSS Feed for Unlimited Gamer Mind controlled games?

Wow check this out. A team of US scientists have implanted a device called a neuromotor prosthesis (NMP) into a region of a paralyzed man’s brain known as the motor cortex which is repsonsible for voluntary movement. All technical jargon aside, Matthew Nagile was able to “open e-mail, play a computer game, and pinch a prothetic hand’s fingers” without the use of limbs, something he doesn’t have any control over.

So what does this mean for gaming? It means that if this technology becomes perfected and commercialized, we could be controlling games with our thoughts rather than a controller. Beyond that, if they could figure out a way for this device to manipulate the part of the brain that controls senses… let’s just say we could be playing games in virtual reality, without a visor. The prospect of this device actually going mainstream is intriguing, exciting, and kinda scary at the same time.

There’s a game you can play with your mind online now–free download for two weeks at Psigenics.com. I think they are planning some other cool stuff. A game maybe. No implants, no wires. Just you and the game.
