Playstation 3 60GB Model to be Discontinued

I really don’t know how to interpret this, so I am going to just spit it out. Basically we have the price drop on the Playstation 3 60GB model to $499. For those of you that are so stoked on that and thinking about maybe getting a Playstation 3 before the end of the year you better think twice. The 60Gb model is expected to only live for another month here in the United States, that means this is supposedly the only time you can get a Playstation 3 for that price with a decent HDD.
Reeves was speaking at an E3 event to announce the introduction of a new PS3 bundle in Europe. When asked about possible criticisms over whether SCEE should have given consumers the option to pay a lower price, as SCEA has done, he replied, “Well, they’re not really are they, because what the US are offering from the 1st of August is a USD 599 version with one game.
“All they’re doing is taking their stock in trade that they’ve got at the moment of the 60GB model, marking the price down and it will all be gone by the end of July.”
When asked to clarify if this will mean the end of the 60GB model, Reeves answered, “In America, yes.”
So basically, we are going to be getting the standard $599 price tag but with a game, what this game will be is unknown, but I can guess its Resistance :P.
[Update #1] So the internet has been abuzz with this story all day, some people are saying its going away others say it’s staying. What we understand now is that Sony will offer this as long as supplies allow and they assured us that they have the supply to meet demand for the cheaper console for months. That doesn’t really surprise me since no one was buying the PS3s when they were available lol. So while supplies last :/.
