Twilight Princess: Wii = Nov. 19, GCN = Dec. 11

Today Nintendo quite unexpectedly announced that the Wii and GameCube versions of Twilight Princess would not be coming out at the same time. As the title states, the GCN version will not come out for almost a month after the Wii version. The question though, is why?

Why would it take longer for a simpler version of the same game to come out? Is there a particular reason for this, or is it a marketing scheme from Nintendo?

I'll admit, I was one of the few who really wanted to play Twilight Princess in its purest form. And so I planned on getting the GameCube version first. But as soon as I heard the announcement this morning that the GameCube version would be delayed, I immediately went down to GameCrazy and pre-ordered a Wii and switched my GCN Twilight Princess pre-order to the Wii version. There is nothing that is going to stop me from playing this game on launch day.

So on the way home I realized, thousands of other hardcore Zelda fans all across the country are all doing the same thing. Those who were not planning on pre-ordering or even getting a Wii at all decided they are going to do everything it takes to get this game as soon as it comes out. And that means pre-ordering a Nintendo Wii.

So I've come to the conclusion that the reason for this delay is because Nintendo wants to take advantage of the hardcore Zelda fans by practically forcing them to get a Wii. Is this a deceptive marketing scheme? Yes. Does it work. Yes. All I know though is that I've been waiting for Twilight Princess for way too long and I will have this game on launch day or all hell will break loose.
