The reviews have been pouring in all week with many more to come, but I though I’d share with you what people are saying about this game. No spoilers.
You see, nearly everything about this game is downright perfect. It is undoubtedly the greatest Zelda game to date… in fact, it completely eclipses most other Zelda games.
So, the question becomes this: When is a game so good that its other achievements outshine even noticeable technical flaws to the point that they are nearly insignificant? The answer is simple: When it reaches Twilight Princess’ level. I don’t believe I have ever played a game that has so seriously amazed me on a regular basis. I find myself regularly dumbstruck by the outright precision with which every facet of Twilight Princess is designed, and yet every time I think I have seen the most amazing thing, the game turns right around and floors me again.
This is the first game that I have ever awarded a 10 in my six years as a reviewer, and for good reason. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is one of the defining videogames of our time. It is unquestionably one of the finest games ever released, and it is one that any gamer should experience regardless of the circumstances.
Think Ocarina of Time with a developed story, Wii controls, realistic graphics, increased length, better level design, and an overall better gaming experience and youll start to understand why Twilight Princess is the best Zelda title ever made.
In the history of launch titles, there has never been a single one that comes remotely close to the quality and excellence of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is without a doubt one of the greatest achievements in the history of the industry, and it would be a crime to go without this experience.
Twilight Princess is the new standard not only in The Legend of Zelda, but the standard in Nintendo’s franchises.
Those expecting a story-intensive title are in for a real treat. Avoiding major spoilers, the game starts off relatively predictable, but after a certain point, turns into the realm of unexpected. Things transpire in Twilight Princess that fans would never have dreamed of before.
In the end, there’s no way that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess disappoints. It’s an excellent addition (and homage to Ocarina) to the franchise, and you’ll have an enormous amount of fun playing it from start to finish. Get over the fact that the Wii’s hardware is simply not as powerful as the other next-gen machines and get into the fact that Twilight Princess is one of the best games you’ll play this year. If you’ve been on the fence in any capacity, then please rest assured that you’ll not be disappointed. I’m looking forward to checking out the GameCube version later next month, but I’m having a hard time imagining it being any better than the Wii interpretation. Nintendo’s flagship game has finally arrived and you better damned well appreciate it. It’s ultimately fantastic.
While the graphics might be current-gen quality, the presentation values are through the roof. The story, the cutscenes and especially the music do wonders to get you into the game. All of the characters (even the ancillary shop owners and random creatures) are memorable, just as they were in Ocarina or Wind Waker. No one makes a more believable world than Nintendo, besting even Oblivion with its cloned NPCs and miles of open land. After just a short time you’ll feel like you’re part of what’s going on and have a strong desire to set things right again.
The motion-sensing controls work really well, and the classic Zelda feel is there, leaving you with a deep need to play for way more than is conventionally healthy.
It seems that the only real gripe the reviewers have had is in the graphics and/or controls department, and the consensus seems to be that this game would receive 10’s across the board had it stayed a GCN title.
