I think everyone will be happy to know that the Playstation 3 will be available as of November 2006. However, more of you will be pleased to know, that unlike previous estimates and speculation, it would seem that Sony is dedicated to a simultaneous release of the console in Japan, North America and Europe. Estimates suggest a production capacity of 1 million units a month and expects 6 million consoles to be shipped by March 2007.
I would take the unit capacity statistic lightly, as unforeseen problems and recalls can cause this number to be completely void of actual fact. However the fact that they are aiming so high hopefully means they wouldn’t fall to short.
Kutaragi went on to give his reasons for the delay, most notably the problems with the Blu-Ray Protection software. However he feels that this is also a good thing, because it allows for Sony to better develop the Blu-Ray technology as well as support. He went on to talk about the 60 GB HDD that comes standard with the PS3, not only that but it is upgradable and preloaded with Linux (chew on that Xbox 360), he also made it very clear that developers are designing in favor of the HDD, so things that are not possible on the Xbox 360 will be so with the PS3, such as much faster load times, and larger environments. In other words with the HDD doing a lot of the storing and loading it gives the CPU and Graphics Processor more room to load advanced textures and animations.
Kutaragi also confirmed that the console will be backwards compatible with the entire library of PS1/PS2 games, and there will be no favoring of select titles like some lamer companies (*cough*Microsoft*cough*). Though no price has yet to be confirmed, which is expected considering the evolving technology currently in the PS3, so if they were to give us a price it wouldn’t be final anyway.
On a side note, Kutaragi also said that the PSP price would drop down to 200 bucks by the end of this month (March).

How can there be these sweet games almost done if few companies even have the so called final ps3 kits. Sony knows the Ps3 is flawed. We will see at E3. linux sucks cheap software i dont really care which console is more powerful iam a game creator myself. nad you r a nad hardware isnt everything. it the software that runs the games ps3 is using linux very experimental, and cheap whole lot of power in a console but will be going to waste for the next couple of years.

nad i live in japan and they are rushing the release of their console the problem is the software and even if they do getting it up and running before november which i hope they do! they still wont have enough consoles to distribute not even by march 2007 i wish you would make some sense, the xbox360 is hyperthreading technology dual core is great hardware has it s floors so will the sonyhave its floors, sound like ford vs Holden haha. but remember you need software to run the hardware?

I have heard some inside that the difference between the console is VERY small, this i know, I am not about sony and the graphics i don’t care, it’s about the gameplay, thats where sony scores big and microsoft doesn’t? wheres my proof? my game collection, I have 4 times as man ps2 games than xbox games, and the xbox games i do have, half of which I don’t even want anymore it’s not worth having.
Sony is gonna keep ps3 behind close doors mostly, I imagine a large unveiling at TGS, if not the console will be delayed until 2007 hands down.
When it is released they expect stores in america to get about 4 copies each(ebgames report), so yeah gonna be hectic.

Wise up, the ps3 will be released far too late and therefore the 360 will be up to its full potential as games manufacturers will know what there doing for the 360 while being blind for the ps3 which has a ridiculous controller, wise up Sony. HAHA this news clip makes me laugh linux is garbage and always will be who needs it.. it’s not even a factor that’s for you geeks out there PS3 is just a Blue-ray disk drive that we don’t need, what you saw at e3 when they showed you Gran trismo HD that was running on a pc. Sony is funny and hacking this will be very easy free games for all if you are willing to purchase a game console for $600 bucks why don’t you let them boot you in the teeth you deserve it the graphics are exactly the same as the 360’s. This is strickly a money grab forget it I am getting Wii.
