No price drop for 360?

After Sony announced that the PS3 would cost a whopping 600 dollars (premium version), many people assumed that Microsoft would announce a price drop for 360 at or near the launch of the machine. Doing so would make PS3's price point even more ridiculous, which most likely would sway people toward buying a 360 come holiday time.

It appears that won't be the case.

"We have no plans to make any price adjustment" said Microsoft's Chris Lewis speaking to trade paper MCV. Sales have been good for the 360, so a price drop does not seem necessary to Microsoft. They do have a point. The announcement of PS3's price point is like a price drop in itself, as Peter Moore commented at E3.
