Ok so yesterday we posted about how the PS3 wasn’t going to allow us to rent games, own pre-owned games, or even allow us to play games on our friends consoles. As I stated and a few other people commenting, this was likely to be false and their were previous problems that lead to the speculation of the topic.
However Gamesindustry.biz got the official low down from Sony that everything was just fine earlier today. The most interesting thing about the rumor that popped up though? The fact that Sony has already previously said it was false.
At the time, Sony completely debunked the rumour - telling UK newspaper The Guardian in no uncertain terms that: “PlayStation 3 software will not be copy protected to a single machine but will be playable on any PlayStation 3 console.”
Speaking to us this afternoon, Kong confirmed that “there has been no official comment on this since the story that came up a few months ago - it hasn’t changed since then, and we’re quite surprised by why this has popped up again, to be honest.”
So everyone rest assured you will be buying the games from the used-bin that half suck but are worth 5 bucks in the next like 3 years?
