For how long? No idea, basically sick and tired of the inactive community, a skin or whatever really isn’t an issue. I see tons of boards with simply the default skin that are completely slaughtering our community. I really don’t know what to do to revive the boards but I do know that the site is continually growing and well the forum just is cursed I guess.
Fuyuki and I have some plans ahead for a sister site to Unlimited Gamer, for those of you that remember we do have an anime domain and well we may finally work on it since it seems the gaming community just is bringing in the fans like I hoped it would(forum wise).
Also note the forum domain may or may not stay on Twilight I really haven’t decided, having the forum back on UG would be better for Google purposes and what not but just not sure. What I am sure of when the board reopens it will have a new layout, plenty of mods to play around with and hopefully a change of pace in the posting. Again sorry for those of you that actually posted on it.

yea i couldnt find anything to post in recently since everything was so dead or boring
October 30th, 2005 at 11:57 pm
yeah I been browsing around the net and reading the post in huge boards.. and well even if they are active there is nothing being said that amounts to anything..
Maybe we just need even more viewers which is just rather upsurd but whatever.
I think I am gonna get a good layout and bring it back to unlimited gamer.

bring it back to UG, integrating the forum with site, and finding ways to attract the forums more to the viewers will bring them back. I can try to help you on integrating the forums and website again, but about the attracting of activity, i say we encourage the current community to post interesting topics and try to be as fully active as possible for at least a week, and there should be more people coming in.
When viewers see something unactive and something that doesnt show that they can care for, then they dont join. All that is needed is something interesting and something that stands out. Again, by moving it back to UG, I can help you integrate the forums with the website not to limit, but to give alittle more. Also, once I finish with scriptings, you can use the members area and such to help attract more people with such possibilities and features.
Just need to find something to make the UG forums uniqe or interesting for people to join. Skins work in making people interested, but cannt maintain activity for long. I have learn this myself.
Another thing I would recommend is finding a news poster that will post something new everyday or as soon as something new happens. Also, look at the games that have alot of popularity, World of Warcraft has around 4.5 million players (or account owners) and is growing fast. Currently, BlizZCon is happening and the newly released information about the first WoW expansion pack has raisen. So, by posting news about that and offering media, you can see more activity on a laready popular website plus, people may want ot discuss it or so on the forums (with integration for a hassle-free way of doing so).
So, yeah, I’m here willing to help you out as best as I can. Just IM or email me (as I know there is a way that the integration will work).

Yeah I know all about the popularity of games but if you wanna make sense out of it the most come to thing at this site has been the soul calibur 3 videos and what not, and yet i know none of them have joined the forum so appealing to different gamers really isn’t where we are lacking since we post more about general games then any of the other sites.
but about the forum inactivity i have read real into, and well we were doing everything right just post count refused to move so it was always a matter of whether the community would make it self strong.
and yeah thanks samurai might be talking to you cause when we do open the forum back up i want a wide range of people to be pleased with it, which is how the current layout came to be got a lot of input from people and fixed things some did or didn’t like.
but yeah I will have a huge community… even if it kills me.

October 31st, 2005 at 9:42 pm
I really don’t think the problem was finding new members. It was getting those members to be active. If you noticed just before the forums were shut down, there was like 6 or 7 new members that had joined with 0 posts. And lots of other members who would sign up, introduce themselves, maybe post one or two times and then vanish forever.
I think what we need to do, like Otikeu said, is find a way for the community to stand out somehow. What I do not know, but I guess people like to play games more than they like to talk about them.
I too will stick with this community till the end.
November 1st, 2005 at 1:31 am
Yeah, it wasnt appealing ot new gamers really, I meant for somethig to attract to visitors/ Show something different and somethi that would make the forums worth going to. By just having everyone post everyday, there will be activity as well as things to actually reply to.
Though GHv2 has been very screwy, my community has stayed strong in trust and encouragement and so has the UG community. All we need to do, like my community does to spike activity, is start posting more topics for discussion, and just keep doing so until there is a steady flow of posting from everyone and soon the community will build on itself and maintain its activity as long as something new starts to come every once and awhile. Topics keep it going though. Look at FFE, their community is the only thing keeping them together, as their community maintains a good flow by having new posts and topics coming in. Also, FFE has their forums integrated that gives more features and opportunity for newbies etc.
Anyways, move the forums back to UG (maybe tied between UG and UA) and I’ll help integrate it as well as spike some good topics. Once this continues, the community will start to maintain itself. But I understand what ya goin’ through, but remember that you just gotta try something different, something new. Maybe make more notice of the forums (usually by a banner link or something like integration to drive more traffic and awarness to forums, instead of just website).
I’m here to help.

yeah they are going back to ug that is no longer optional. That will not only allow for users to see that it is actually like part of this site but also get me more indexed pages in google
I think If we get like really strong news posting it could promote more readers and try and write more useful articles like in regards to next-generation hardware.. really hard to say what people want any more. Hopefully we can get UG back to the way it was back in the day.. the forum that is… it was once active you know?
November 1st, 2005 at 11:01 pm
Yeah, I know lol. Basically, look at the forums and see what you find that would distract you from joining (aka, put your mind set as a new comer to UG) and fix it. Basically, start up some activity, find some helpful, user-friendly features and styles, and you should be good to go. Just reach me on IM and I’ll hookup the integrational stuff.
Laterz

yeah I am gonna try and make it as friendly as possible, but most the things we did were already accomidation which is why i was always so confused on why the lurkers never converted.
but I figure I offer games and welcoming and just whatever it takes.

November 5th, 2005 at 6:50 am
Well, that news sure sucks. I thought the forum was great. Anyway, I’m confident things will improve.
November 5th, 2005 at 12:02 pm
Well, i haven’t been posting cuz i have been way to busy to get on the forum and visit the site. I finally have the chance to post and it is down. Anyways, i suppose that conditions will improve next time you bring back the forum. I will start checking back on updates as much as i can. Maybe if i had more time, the forum might have stayed up. later
November 5th, 2005 at 5:16 pm
Lol dark you really can’t put any blame on yourself. No one member should shoulder any responsibility of the forum being turned off. It was a lack of the good members we had that made me temporarily take it down.
November 5th, 2005 at 6:18 pm
do you think that nelo is really dead?
November 5th, 2005 at 6:18 pm
where do these comments come from.. nelo who?
November 6th, 2005 at 1:08 am
well just keep me informed, i will visit and look around for other info, ,i hope everything getts in ok order, ttyl guys
November 6th, 2005 at 1:26 pm
Yeah, if people don’t join a forum or do join and don’t post, that would get on my nerves too. I had a board called TotallyDC and nobody cared. It was left to decay in hell.
Anyway, you should consider 2006 a new beginning. Make a bigger, better forum. If you’re a fan of the Final Fantasy games, make a Final Fantasy site with a forum. They’re quite popluar when used with the vBulletin software.
November 6th, 2005 at 3:01 pm
yeah i guess that could be a possibility, just not sure if i could go 2 whole months personally without a forum, I just wouldn’t feel right.
But if I do I will be sure to try and make the forum so damn user friendly it’s not even funny. I think what we lack most on this site is the user input and user integration. If I could get the members to really like feel like it’s worth something to be a member it might increase activity. But yeah just a lot of work to be done on the ol’forums.
November 7th, 2005 at 1:36 pm
You suck.
November 7th, 2005 at 4:11 pm
haha big balls posted your email and everything…
pussy
November 8th, 2005 at 5:52 pm
I think the people at vBulletin are greedy dicks. They didn’t help me when these assholes were bothering me at a forum before. Plus, they make you pay for a board then they don’t help you. Not right at all.
November 8th, 2005 at 10:25 pm
uh..? there support and updates are awesome if you are a customer.. I never had a problem with vb, and the mod community is so legit I never even have to go to the source for solving problems.
and vb isn’t responsable for how people act at a forum that is run by there software…
November 10th, 2005 at 12:48 pm
Gizmondo is my baby!! It will take over the world …
November 12th, 2005 at 1:59 am
well this is what i think, you guys can dissagree with me. i think we should add alittle more important things to the sites, more game info if we are able to find new info, we can add more games on the ug site, like for square-enix and other such things. just items that will atract more people to join and visit the forums. get more hits.(^_^)
November 12th, 2005 at 3:21 pm
well the hits aren’t a problem.. i have more hits than most fan sites out there that have awesome communities.. 6000 unique is far more than enough people viewing the site daily to have a good community. It is more of a problem of getting them to get to the forums..
November 14th, 2005 at 9:27 am
well, mabey you should try advertising the forums? its a try…mabey you should try it, i can help get people i know to join the forums…we need to think of an idea of how to get people to join and look at the forums
