Halo 3 Walkthrough

RSS Feed for Unlimited Gamer E3 Downsizing Confirmed

E3 is officially changing course in terms of how it presents itself and the media and information that we the gaming community receives from it. Essentially, E3 will not be the largest trade show in the gaming industry anymore and will focus more on smaller meetings and general release information to the press and media. What does that mean you ask? It means that GDC(Game Developers Conference) and the TGS(Tokyo Game Show) are going to be the biggest trade shows in the industry.

“Over the years, it has become clear that we need a more intimate program, including higher quality, more personal dialogue with the worldwide media, developers, retailers and other key industry audiences.”

From now on, the focus for E3 will be on “targeted, personalised meetings and activities”, according to the ESA, with further plans to be announced soon.

It would seem that some of the bigger companies just couldn’t afford to spend all this money on the trade show especially when it can make or break you if you mess up. This will give game developers and hardware developers more time and less stress to show off some amazing show with huge booths and babes all over the place. In other words I think that E3 is going to become well… aside from the general flow of information, essentially boring.

I can’t say I haven’t enjoyed covering E3, as it was always my favorite time of the year when it came to running this site, I guess I will just shift my focus to more coverage on GDC and TGS.

Let’s all take a moment of silence and remember all the good times we had with E3, and all the fun and excitement it brought us, “…,” ok now onward and beyond!
