First off, if you check the character select screen, you'll see that Ayla is permenant like Crono. She'll leave soon,
but for now, she stays. First off, you'll need the latest weapons and armor. Don't worry about money, because the only
thing you need the for in this era is for healing items. To get weapons and armor, head to the hut next to Ayla's and
talk to the old man, he will trade you 3 of 2 types of items for a weapon or armor. These items are Horns, Feathers,
Petals, and Fangs. These items are dropped by monsters in the prehistoric era. You need at least 3 of any 2 items to
trade. If you don't have enough items, head to Hunting Range to the northeast of the village. It's a forest area next
to the Dactyl's nest. While here, track down the Nu that appears in at least 3 places. It's a long, but easy battle
that will net you a shitload of Tech Points (ok only 30, but they add up quick), and 3 of each item. Plus, the first
time you beat him, he'll give you a [THIRD EYE], which doubles your evade.
Once you have the needed items, head to the Trading Hut and trade items. The items are as follows. 3 Petals + 3 Fangs = Ruby Gun 3 Petals + 3 Horns = Sage Bow 3 Petals + 3 Feathers = Stone Arm 3 Fangs + 3 Horns = Flint Edge 3 Fangs + 3 Feathers = Ruby Vest 3 Horns + 3 Feathers = Rock Helm Get something for everyone. You might have noticed already, but Ayla does not have a weapon. Instead, she fights with her fists, which will be upgraded when she reaches higher levels. When ready, head into the lowest hut. You can heal by talking to the girl on the left and the guy in the center will give you a [TONIC]. Head south to Forest Maze. Inside, you'll get a scene with Ayla and Kino. Head right through the trees. Grab the [MID TONIC] from the chest. Climb down and grab the [REVIVE]. Cross the tree branch and grab the [MID TONIC] from the chest to the south, then head northwest and grab the [MID ETHER] from the chest. Head northeast around the trees and south. To the left is another [REVIVE]. Continue south to get a [SHELTER], then go east. Head right up the ramp and follow the path around. At the fork in the road, take the bottom path and then at the next path, do the same. Get the [MID TONIC] out of the chest. Head up and climb down the vine. Head to the right and grab the [MID ETHER]. Head back to the vine, but pass it and head south to end up on the world map. S&S and then enter the Reptite Lair. They all eventually lead to one big room that contains a [ROCK HELM] and a [FULL ETHER]. Leave this room to the east and in this hallway, head up and out to the left. This will lead back to the second room so you can go back and collect the items. Afterwards, come back to this hallway and go all the way to the north. Kill the 2 reptites and Megasaur, then S&S at the Save Point that appears. Head through the cave. Watch the scene and then a boss battle.
First off, you'll notice that above, a new category has been created: Charm. Charm is a Tech that lets Ayla steal from monsters. If you have it, you can steal that item from Nizbel. Now, this boss is dangerous, but he has a weakness. Like all dinosaurs, he is weak against Lightning. If you attack him before Crono casts Lightning, you will do little damage because he has high defense. After you cast lightning, go all out. You can have Crono use Spincut, Ayla use Cat Attack or Rock Throw, and Robo use Robo Tackle. Another way to do this is to have Crono and Ayla use Volt Bite and Robo use Robo Tackle. Keep your HP up, because after a few rounds, Nizbel will release the lightning energy, damaging the whole party. Heal up after this and repeat the whole process until he is dead. Afterwards, you get a scene and the [GATE KEY] is back. You end back up at Ayla's hut. She leaves the party. Head back to Melchoir's place and you'll get a scene with him and Lucca (or Robo) repairing the Masamune. Afterwards, you get the [MASAMUNE]. |
