When you enter, you get a short scene. Head inside head to the left. Don't bother talking to any of the people. Grab
the [MID ETHER] out of the chest to the right. Head up and grab the [MID ETHER] and [SHELTER] from the chests. Head
back to the entrance and talk the right path. Don't bother talking to the familiar faces here either, but grab the
[MID ETHER] out of the second chest you come to. You can get the first chest later. Once you reach the back room,
turn around and head back to the entrance. Examine the Save Point and Ozzie will appear. He will sic monsters on
you. Kill them and head to the left. All of the people are now monsters. Don't talk to the Omnicrone or you will be
thrown into a battle. Same for the next set. When you reach the next set, equip the Hero's Medal on Frog and then
talk to the girl in the center to initiate a battle with 5 Decedents. Make sure you're healed up at the end of the
battle because afterwards you get a scene and a Boss Battle with Slash, the swordsman.
This will be the second toughest battle in this area. Slash has 2 forms and you don't get time to heal in between. On top of that, he moves fast and is strong against magic, elemental attacks in particular, which is all there are.* He uses a Fire-based attack that hits the whole party, an attack called Rapid Punch, and a Fire-based counterattack. Have Crono use Spincut and Frog attack. With the Hero's Medal on Frog, his critical rate will increase if he has the Masamune equipped. If Frog knows Leap Slash, have him use that. After you deal 3200 HP to him, he will grab his sword off the wall. The battle gets tougher here. He attacks faster and uses attacks like Slash and Spincut, as well as "Yes! Indeed!" attack. At this point have Lucca stop attacking and have her heal with items. If needed, have Frog help her. Keep Crono attacking. *Note: If Napalm or Fire does more damage than Lucca's standard attack then use those. After the battle, grab the [SLASHER] off the ground and equip it on Crono, then S&S. Return to the entrance and head to the right. Talk to the front center little boy and the 4 kids will turn into Shadows. Kill them and grab the [BARRIER] from the chest. In the next room, don't talk to (or touch) any of the people here unless you want to fight a bunch of monsters at once. Head to the back room and approach the monster on the throne for a battle with Flea?. It takes 1 hit for it to kill you, but it will use MP Buster on the character that hit it so you should probably have Frog attack it. After the battle, the real Flea shows up.
This battle is fairly difficult. Flea uses attacks that cause status effects. Make sure you have a bunch of heals to counter this and use them immediately when a character is confused or sleep. You will use your whole party for healing status effects so when one party member gets one of these, have an available one heal them. Other than that use techs to finish Flea off. Now leave the castle or head back to Slash's Room and S&S. Head back in and examine the Save Point where Ozzie appeared from last time and you will be teleported into another room. Head north. You will enter a chain of battles. Grab the [MIST ROBE] from the chest and equip it on Lucca, then talk to Ozzie. Follow him and then maneuver through the conveyor belts, avoiding the guillotines. Grab the [DARK MAIL] on the way. Halfway through, the conveyor belts and guillotines speed up so be careful. At the end, get Robo's [DOOM FINGER] from the chest and then continue on. Head up the stairs. Avoid the Rolys by climbing down the chain ladders. At the top continue on. In the next room, Ozzie will set up some traps for you where you fall into a basement. Grab the [MID ETHER], [LAPIS], [BARRIER], and [SHELTER] from the chests then head to the southeast corner and grab the [MAGIC TAB]. Next, examine the Save Point at the top to return to the previous room. Avoid the traps if you can. Each time you fall throug the whole, the Save Point teleporter rotates to a different spot in the room. By the way, 2 of the Save Points are monsters. They won't attack you and they have low HP, but they have high defense. The other one is a normal Save Point. Once you get across the room, continue on. Head up the stairs like the previous set. In the next room is another chain of battles. At the end, grab the [SPEED BELT] and head to the next room for another chain of battles like the very first one. You can skip these by hurrying along the side of the wall. Get the [REVIVE] from the chest and continue on. In this room grab the [MIST ROBE] and [MAGIC SCARF] from the chests. Equip the Mist Robe on Marle and then approach Ozzie. Talk to him to start the easiest fight in the game.
This is seriously the easiest battle in the game. Even easier than the Hetake's in Guardia Forest. Anyway, you do NOT attack Ozzie, who has incased himself inside a barrier, or else he will counterattack. Instead, attack the four switches around him. You'll gain access to them from left to right, one at a time. After you strike one, a hole will open up by your characters. After the 4th one, a whole will open up under Ozzie and he will fall to his doom, screaming like a little girl. After the battle, a Save Point and teleporter will appear. The Save Point is on the right and the teleporter on the left. S&S then head through the teleporter. Run down the stairs to avoid the Vamps and then through the door. Walk forward and after the scene you get to fight the big man himself.
Yeah, he has his own boss music. Anyway, this battle is complicated at first. Magus has a barrier based on the 4 elements. When he uses those spells, then only those spells will work. For example, if Magus uses Lightning 2 (he uses all Level 2 spells by the way), then only Lightning-based attacks will hurt him. The same for the other spells. If you don't have an element he uses, just use a physical attacks and he will change it.
If Magus uses Dark Bomb, which is a shadow-based attack, then use Delta Force, a Triple Tech, if you have it. If not just attack him normally. If he uses Geyser or a physical attack, heal and attack with whatever. After you deal a certain amount of damage, a message will appear saying Magus is casting a spell. His barrier is now gone and you can attack with whatever but note these few things:
