The Guru on Mt. Woe

|
When you enter, you'll see a monster called Rubble. There are a few of these on the mountain and they give you 100 Tech
Points if you defeat them. Sounds easy, right? It isn't. First off, at the start of battle, they cast Lock All on the
party, meaning you can't use Techs or Items. Second, they have high evasion. Third, they run away after a few turns,
meaning if you miss them too many times, they're gone. To top it all off, once they run away or are killed, they don't
return. Now let's move on.
Put Ayla in your party and head straight. You'll be stopped by monsters. Ayla can steal a Alloy Blade from them, which is Crono's strongest weapon at this point. Follow the path around until you come to a chest with a [LODE HELM]. Head back to the entrance and head left to the chain. Continue on. There is a Rubble to the left. Head right and up. S&S then go north and turn right up the chain. In the chests are a [LODE VEST] and a [Shield]. A Shield works just like Protect. Head back to the left and continue going left. In the corner you'll find a chest with a [BARRIER]. Head back to the right and go up the ramp. Head around and up the next ramp for a [LAPIS]. Head right across the chain. Go south, west, south, east for a [BARRIER]. To the southeast of the Barrier is a Rubble. Head up the ramp and east. Head up for a [LAPIS]. Steal from the Man Eaters to get Frog's Pearl Edge. Beware, their only attack causes Chaos. Head east and south for a [FULL ETHER]. Head north for a [BARRIER]. Head back west and go north of where you fought the Man Eaters. Follow the path around and go south. In the 2 chests are a [SHIELD] and a [SHELTER]. Head north and follow the path around. S&S at the Save Point. Head north and around to grab the [TIME HAT]. Head right, down, and to the left to get a [FULL ETHER]. In the bottom-right corner is a [MAGIC TAB]. Head north up the chain. In this next area, examine the blue crystal for a scene, then a boss fight.
This boss can be hard of easy depending on your level and Techs. Your objective is to either kill off both arms or the left (Attack) arm. While both arms are alive, they will release 2 combo attacks on the whole party, which cause moderate-to-high damage. With everything you've got, attack the left arm and kill it. You don't really need to kill the right arm right away. All it does is heal the head and a water-based attack that shouldn't be a problem. The head will revive any dead arms. When the arms are revived, they have lower HP. Sounds easy doesn't it. I said it's hard because at the beginning of the battle you will have your hands full with trying to heal from the Combo attacks of the arms and killing off the left arm. Lucca should have Taban equipment on to reduce fire damage. After the battle you get a scene. Once finished, talk to Melchoir for another scene. You'll get the [RUBY KNIFE]. |
