Once you arrive, S&S, then talk to Mune for a scene. South in the next room, head to the right at the first fork and
through the door. Inside, step on the switch and a Jinn and Barghest will appear. Kill the Barghest first in order to
attack the Jinn. Head out through the bottom-right corner. In this room is 2 Red Scouters and a Mage. The Red Scouters
can be killed with only Fire and Physical Attacks. All other magic will make them counterattack with Fire 2. In the
chest is an [AEON HELM]. Head out west (not northwest), and you'll be in the center-right side of the main room. Head
down on the narrow path and you'll reach another door like the one above. Instead of going through it, go up and get
the [AEON SUIT] from the chest. Now head through the door to the southeast and kill the Blue Scouters, who can only
be killed with Water. Head south and get Robo's [KAISER ARM]. Head down and to the left to hit the switch in the
middle of the bridge. Continue left across the bridge and grab Marle's [COMET ARROW] to the south. Head back the way
you came and go to the main room.
In the southwest room is Lucca's [SHOCKWAVE]. Head south of this room and follow the narrow path around until you reach the wall. In the last panel is a secret wall. Head inside to get Frog's [DEMON HIT]. Head back to the main room and enter the center-left room for Crono's [STAR SWORD]. Exit to the northeast and hit the switch. Kill the Jinn and Barghest, then return to the main room through the southeast door. In the main room, head back to the entrance (it's in the top center), but don't go all the way. South of the entrance is Frog's [RUNE BLADE]. It has the same attack power as the Demon Hit. The only difference is that Demon Hit does twice the damage to magic enemies and the Rune Blade raises magic power by 4. If you're using Frog, I suggest the demon hit since most of the enemies here are magic. Now head south through the center door. Ignore the door to the south since it leads to an empty elevator shaft. Head left down the stairs. There is only one path to take. On the stairs with the Thrashers jumping up and down, if you avoid them falling on you, you won't have to fight them. If they touch you, they will float down to the floor where you will have to fight all of the Thrashers that you touched. They counter with an attack that can cause Chaos. On the next floor, you can avoid a fight by not letting any of the Lashers touch you, but the statue shoots Fire Balls to slow you down. On the next floor you have to fight. Head down the stairs and talk to Masa for a scene. S&S at the bottom. Head south. Once you enter the elevator, you will have to fight 2 Scouters, 2 Blue Scouters, and a Mage. It's obvious, but in battles like this with more than one color scouters, don't use Level 2 magic, just use level 1 to kill them with 1 hit. Hit the shining switch on the left to activate the elevator. While the elevator goes down, you will have to fight a series of 3 battles: Battle 1: Jinn, Barghest & Three Lashers Battle 2: Scouter, 2 Mages, 2 Lashers Battle 3: 2 Scouters, 2 Blue Scouters, 2 Red Scouters Once the elevator stops you have a choice. You can take the elevator back up to the empty shaft near the beginning of the palace. If you do that, you can get a [MAGIC TAB], but you'll have to walk all the way back to where you were. It's up to you. Once you exit the elevator, head left into the room. In this room, you'll fight 3 scouters (all of different colors). Hit the switch and then leave and enter the room on the right side. Repeat. Now head back and hit the switch in the center to create a bridge. Head across to the next room, grab the [ELIXIR], then S&S. A boss fight is coming up. Enter the next room for a scene with Dalton, who summons the Golem Twins.
This boss is the same as the Golem, but you HAVE to win this battle to continue. Use Hypno Wave until you put 1 or both to sleep. Use Haste if you have Marle and use Barriers if you want. Afterwards, focus on ONE of the Golems. Don't use attacks that'll attack both or you will wake the other one up, and this battle is a pain with both awake. After you kill the first off, focus on the second. One this one, you can use any attack you want now that the other one is gone. At this point, if Crono has stronger helmets and armor than any other character and/or a accessory that is useful, you might want to exchange them with some weaker armor and accessory if you can. Save then continue on. You'll get a long scene, then you finally get to fight Lavos itself.
Lavos is as hard as you think he is. In fact, it's impossible to win unless you're in a NEW GAME+ or at higher levels with strong weapons, armor, and stats. Don't worry, you don't have to win this one. If you think you stand a chance I'll make a stragtegy anyway. Heal every turn because you'll have to. Lavos will use a needle attack on the whole party as well as a lightning based attack on one character. His strongest attack hits the whole party and is the one he starts the battle with. Since he gets the first hit, you'll probably die before you get to attack, unless you're strong enough. Use your strongest techs and Combos. If you have Marle, Haste will work really good and if you have Lucca, Protect will help too. If not, use those Shields you found on Mt. Woe. After a long time, he will fall if you're lucky and you can fight his 2 other forms, then get a special ending. If not, the story will continue on. Afterwards, you get a longer scene. Some surprising stuff happens. When you gain control, move Crono toward Lavos. You get another scene, some more surprising stuff, and then you wake up in a hut. You'll have to choose your third character. Crono isn't in the party anymore. I really, really recommend Ayla, no matter how strong or weak she is. You'll also need to choose 2 other characters. Doesn't matter who, just make sure they're strong. Lucca should be strong and Marle is useful too. Save, then leave and head to the middle hut. Stock up on items if you need to. There is a tab behind the Nu, but you can't get it yet. When ready, head to the Commons. You'll see the Epoch above, but you can't get it yet. When ready, talk to the Algetty Elder. You get a scene. |
