Biography

Good old Cid Highwind hasn’t changed much from the game, though he now pilots a new ship he remains much of the same hotheaded cocky bastard that he was in the game. Cids role has also been shortened in comparison to some of the other characters but again he just ads to the story line. Now piloting the Sierra he is still the team’s transportation and offers his support to the team.

Role in Final Fantasy VII (Game)

In the game Cid may very well be one of the most hurt based on experiences with the Shinra Inc. As it would seem Cid is one of the only characters in the game you seek out with the purpose of needing in the future. Cid was at one time Shinras front man in terms of Piloting and engineering. However after many failures and human error with the rocket his funds were cut and he has since spent the rest of his days in Rocket Town trying to repair the damages that were caused by his wife(? Not really sure if she is his wife). Anyways Cid finds himself in a situation where he really can’t refuse your help as the Shinra were also after Cid for the same reason as Cloud and well Cid has no means of teaming up with the Shinra he only wanted them to refund his rocket program. Anyway with the aid of Cid you are able to fly around the globe in the Highwind and thus accomplish things you couldn’t otherwise. You also get to help him fulfill his dream of going to space.

Role in Advent Children (Spoilers)

Cids role isn’t anything huge, again much about Cid we learn in the game so further extension into this character is really not required. Cid, like in the game serves as the pilot in the story by flying around the crew in his new ship the Sierra, though it would seem it is never really required it allows for the Avalanche team to watch over cloud while he is fighting against Kadaj and then Sephiroth. Cid of course remains the cocky asshole in the movie that he was in the game, and my favorite part is when Barret ask him to land the Sierra so they can help Cloud, and he simply responds, “Jump Jump.” And like the rest of the characters he is also there to offer support to Cloud.
