Red XIII is again one of those very small roles in the movie; in fact he might even have less of a role than that of Barret. His main purpose is to be there just to be an apart of the original team and to give Cloud assistance in realizing his importance. Much like Barret he doesn’t seem to do much else.
Role in Final Fantasy VII (Game) |
Red XIII had a very interesting role in the game. The first time you meet him he was supposed to have Aeris for lunch. After learning that this Tiger like creature was clearly no savage he joins forces with you in order to help you escape from Shinra. And that’s not all this Cat can talk as well, a huge shocker to the Avalanche team. Despite all that all he desires is to go home to Cosmo Canyon, and upon returning we learn a lot more about this mysterious character. It would seem as though he had shame on his family and was one of the last of kind and thus very sad. But then Red is taken on a journey that takes him to his father’s burial where he learns the truth of his father whom was in fact a great man that faced on the demons attacking the canyon all by himself. Thus he was not a coward as he expected but a great warrior. This inspired Red to join your quest to the very end to fight along side you and for the sake of the planet without abandoning his pride.
Role in Advent Children (Spoilers) |
Again much like Barret in this aspect. Red XIII is there in order to give up and courage to Cloud to show him that people do care about him as well as have faith in him. In the movie he first appears with Cait Sith to fight against Bahamut and is later seen in the Sierra where he has a few lines of wisdom. Other than that he really doesn’t do much else in the movie.
