News Archive
Hey guys this is the news archive that was ported from wordpress over to the new site, I realize that its unformatted and sort of a mess, but its better than losing all of that content now isn't it ;)
If there is anything you want from google that shows up on these pages its still there, however all of the comments have been removed I apologize for that as well but it wasn't worth it to port them.

In light of the announcement a few days ago of a new RPG for the Xbox 360 we have a couple of scans for those of you that are a bit interesting in the game. The scans showcase a couple of the characters, and since we haven't seen the trailer yet it's the best we can do for the time being, hopefully the trailer that all these people are talking about will get released so we can see this lil babe in action. Hit the jump to view the scans, they look gross else wise haha:

For those of you that know me it shouldn't be hard to understand why I simply love this game, the visuals and the action of the series is legendary and for game to be making the transition to Next-Gen on more than one platform has me as happy as ever. I can't help but poke fun at the Sony boys for losing this title because it's one of the few that I would have bent over backwards and bought a PS3 for. Lucky for Sony they still have Final Fantasy and Metal Gear :P

Alright this trailer is actually in English? Yeah I realize that TGS is in TOKYO but what ever I am not complaining one bit. The trailer offers a lot of information we have heard, remnants are scattered about the world messing up the balance ect. The only piece of information that I find most important is the solidification that this will be a simultaneous release in Japan and North America, what does that mean for our PAL friends? I have no idea, enjoy the trailer:

Alright gamers and nerds alike, the time of TGS is now, as such I will be posting a lot of news and videos and screenshots. Shit will more than likely be sort of rapid fire like, I got about 4 trailers I am about to post and some of them need to be converted to flash because god forbid you have to download something to watch it in this day and age. As usual I use the highest quality settings so your not looking at youtube like trash. Need Flash 8 to view it, so yeah just enjoy the visuals for the next few days eh?

Wewww, finally, Sony PS3 owners can enjoy the technological advancement that is rumble... lets be honest here, while it was retarded for them to drop it in the first place, rumble isn't all that great to begin with, or maybe I just don't even notice when the controller rumbles anyway.
As far as I can tell you, if the controller isn't rumbling then hopefully the game has you so involved you don't noticed, but so far Sony has yet to have that game that gets you that involved yet to not notice... else this wouldn't be first page news haha.
Word is the controller will be showcased at the TGS event... which is like today or tomorrow since Japan is like a day ahead of us or something I don't really know haha.

Super Smash Brothers Brawl has been rumored to support online play since it was announced, but we never heard any solid concrete confirmation from Nintendo or the development team. Yesterday, the official Super Smash Brothers Brawl site updated with confirmation of online play. There will be two modes of online play, "With Friends" and "With Anyone." With Friends is of course only with people that you share friend codes with, and With Anyone is for random people across the globe. It's nice to finally hear some confirmation of this :)

You know it doesn't even surprise me that Valve would fuck up, well anything anymore. The most recent culprit to the mess-up is the Team Fortress 2 Beta which Valve promised PC gamers who reserved the Orange Box via steam that they would be playing it... yesterday.
Travis whom is a sort of fan of the series and I wouldn't say hardcore because based on his take on the situation he wasn't prepared to kill someone offer the misunderstanding of information. However his unbiased view as a fan is interesting because he sat and sort of observed the hardcore fans simply going ballistic on the forums over the lack of the beta.
He even brought up the point that Valve is once again sort of betraying fans and it simply amazes me that even I myself still love Valve after all of the delays, the lies, the money issues and bundle scams... how can one game seriously make me love this company so much when all Valve does other than putting out the great titles is screw over the actual gamers time and time again.
He went on to point out that Bioshock which he purchased over Steam took a while to unlock and download but after the experiences I have gone through with Half-Life 2 and Episode 1, I am entirely content with getting the Orange Box on the 360, because dammit all I am sick and tired of Steam.
Oh and incase your wondering the Beta is now live, though they didn't do much for the fans in simply announcing it is now live today, they could have possibly made a post about it prior too this whole mishap but they did not.
I recall the other day waiting for the Tony Hawk demo to go on Xbox Live and when it didn't the first thing I did was go to the site and the guy on the Blog had been updating fans the whole day on why it wasn't yet online, just goes to show you how companies handle customer support differently, too bad the new Tony Hawk sucks haha.

No I am not talking about Fuyuki, in-fact I would have removed him from the staff listing by now if he wasn't one of the founders, but I will adjust that because well thats all he really is now, a founder.
With that said I mean to mention Jazzhak, while at first he was a enthusiastic go-getter with big plans ahead for the site, I remained the pessimistic doubter that I am. In my experience with this site I have had countless staff, and for the most part most never so much as posted one news story, however Jazz has pushed his way through my doubts and to a position of trust.
As such I have promoted him to the co-admin position because in his short stay here he has promoted much forum activity, a radio, and maintained a presence in the news. With that I hope that Jazz will continue to be an outstanding member of my staff and continue to support UG while we prepare to undergo a change.
-A token of appreciation from an asshole :P

As much as many of you would like to correct me on more than one problem with that header I assure you it is in fact real. Square-Enix is developing a new game for the 360. Square will be working with Tri-Ace to develop this "dynamic next-generation RPG." All this was happening at the Microsoft Pre-TGS show and Hajami Kojima was the one presenting the new title on stage as well as showing off a trailer and logo for the title. Kojima is the producer of the new title and has also had involvement in the Star-Ocean series. However the trailer was NOT shown on the feed I was watching so... yeah we will have to wait and see for Square-Enix to release the trailer to the public or for someone to leak it.
We also know that Hiroshi Ogawa one of the prominent figures in the Star-Ocean series will be directing this new title. It would also seem that the term Discovery that is used in the title is directly meaning that the player will spend a lot of time discovering things. This is apparently one of the main functions of the game and depending on the character actions will depend on the discovery items and the world.
They went on to introduce something called situational battles where you may not be fighting the creature but they are affecting the parts of the world you are in, like encountering a orge while escaping a prision or ducking under the fire of a flying dragon... to be honest I don't entirely understand what they mean by this without seeing a visual trailer since the presentation is mostly translated it's hard to get a good understanding.
One feature however is very interesting and NEW to rpg games. Seamless-Real-Time gameplay, this means that nothing pauses you from the game, not evening going into the menu to check inventory or change parties, you are always vulnerable in your environment and I think this sort of translates to the situational gameplay as you are always in the game and never taken out of the experience.
Thats all the information I know at this time and I realize some of it is sort of hard to understand but hopefully once we have a trailer it will make a little more sense :). No information on release dates or anything like that either.
