News Archive

Hey guys this is the news archive that was ported from wordpress over to the new site, I realize that its unformatted and sort of a mess, but its better than losing all of that content now isn't it ;)

If there is anything you want from google that shows up on these pages its still there, however all of the comments have been removed I apologize for that as well but it wasn't worth it to port them.

US Retail giant Toys R Us broke the rules, in a good way. For a short period of time, the store was actually selling Bioshock games at select stores around the country. People were able to go in and buy it for a low price after special deals. Many Gamers were calling their local Toys R Us, and sure enough, they were selling it.

But when I called my local Toys R Us I was forced to wait 15 minutes while they checked, until I heard someone say "Tell them no". Quite odd isn't it? There must've been some sort of slip up. So whoever you are, lucky Gamers who got it early, I envy you.

  • Yes, I’ve waited a long time for a good release of the next generation Madden. I went to my local GameStop in Severna Park for the midnight release. There was about 30 people when I rolled up. After waiting for 30 minutes to get in with my number, about 30-50 more people showed up outside waiting in line. This was a much bigger showing then last year. Last year I was the 10th person in line with bout 50 people there total.

So far this game has everything that was expected in the 07 next generation version. Superstar mode is revamped and has a much better way to create your Superstar. The gameplay is a lot smoother and faster. The icon for your players on field such as "shut down corner" is a step in the right direction. It allows the player to think a lot differently knowing what type of players are on the field.

This game feels completely made over. The gameplay is much smoother with no lag at all. The graphics on the other hand seem to be worse then last years version. I think its just me though.

Sounds are mostly the same as last. They still don’t have John Madden as the commentator anymore. He was replaced with some radio DJ. The soundtrack though, is up to date. Swiss Beats and Sum 41 are the ones that I have heard so far.

    Gameplay - 9/10
    Control - 9/10
    Graphics - 7/10
    Sound - 8/10
Replay - 10/10 if you are a football fan. 8/10 if your not

    Total score 43/50

I’m going to say a definite buy for any sports fans.

  • Bioshock is live and available for download on Xbox Live. The demo is about 20-30 minutes long and shows you a couple of the awesome features of the game. You get to demo some of the plasma powers as well as a couple of the firearms. The demo also does a really good job of getting you fairly involved in the story.

So go download it you clowns the game comes out the 21st :P.

  • This is the first Bioshock Launch Trailer, and frankly I love the music for it. The graphics are beautiful, and it looks promising.

  • Sorry about my lack of posting but with the crazy heat and the lack of worthy gaming news I have simply been bored to death. In light of that I am going to post some of the upcoming game releases that are supposed to be gewd.

    • Madden NFL 08 - 08/14/2007
    • Bioshock - 8/21/2007 (game is going to pwn bagels)
    • Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 - 8/28/2007
    • Stranglehold - 8/29/2007
    • Metroid Prime 3: Corruption - 8/29/2007 (holy shit already?)
    • Warhawk - 8/30-2007

Granted not the only games coming out this month but among the best, enjoy.

  • metallica.JPG

According to the official Metallica website, Guitar Hero III will feature the famous Metallica song "One", off of the popular album ...And Justice For All.

    Metallica.com:
"Fire up those gaming consoles..."Guitar Hero" will indeed include One when the third game in the series hits the streets in time for the holidays. With versions available for Playstation 3, X-box 360, and Nintendo Wii everyone should be able shred with Kirk and James.Keep watching here for more details."

  • We have come a long way since the days of Kaleco Vision and Atari.
I believe over 25,000 games have been created and over 500 million plus consoles have been sold(including remakes, excluding virtual games).

that said i have come up with my top 10 games of all time and why.

I encourage everyone to comment with their top 10

    10. Tony Hawk Pro Skater - Playstation
Tony Hawk Franchise has broken the mold with life like pro skaters, create a park and real skating spots around the world. It has received numerous awards and top picks as greatest games ever created. It has recreated the dull extreme sports industry and has revitalized a sport on the rise that wanted millions of children to learn how to skateboard and do backflips on it. I was one.

    9. Tetris - PC
A brilliant Russian scientist was the creator of such a simple game that entrapped people for hours to beat. It has been created on every platform created except the arcade boxes and next gen. It has been recently recreated on the Nintendo DS in 2006. Still addicting.

    8. Grand Theft Auto - Playstation
GTA has changed drastically over the years. Since it was first release it was a top down, birds eye view game. Even with that, there was tons of violence in it. I was a free lance Smash Tv type game with missions and car jacking. It has gone along way into full immersed 3-d world roaming. It definitely revolutionized the gaming industry. Many games have copied the style of GTA. Even car games like Need For Speed: Carbon has copied the open world style.

    7. Madden Football - Nes
First ever football game to include 3d models in real life. Only game franchise in the industry to have an illustrious curse on its cover athlete.
It has been the #1 sports game sold yearly. In 2006, it was the top selling game, selling at 1.8 million plus. It even has its own made up holiday celebrated on the release date and call Madenology. It is currently the only football franchise to have exclusive rights to the NFL franchise, likeness and rights. It is the most accurate video game representation of any sport.

    6. Need For Speed - PC
Race fast, race nice cars, drift, pursuits. Need For Speed has changed the influence of the Car industry. I bet most gamers wouldn't know a Fiat from a Ford, or what a Ferrari is if it wasn't for Need For Speed. This gaming franchise grew with popularity with movies like the Fast and the Furious . The car craze has never been at a high for a younger generation if it wasnt for Need For Speed.

    5. Doom - PC
You people are probably asking why or how is Doom number 5 on my list. Doom paved the way for true 3-d horror Fps(first person shooters) game made. Im not forgetting the amazing Wolfenstein 3-d, but Doom was what paved the way for games like Unreal, Quake, Shadow Warrior, Duke Nukem and System Shock. The was one of the first games to ever push the computer to graphical limits. This sparked the war for games to push the graphics envelope. Games that made people build computers or buy brand new ones just so these games would even run at minimal speeds.

    4. Mortal Kombat - Nes
Oh, Mortal Kombat. How bloody thee is. Mortal Kombat was evolutionary for the industry. It was one of the first games that had extreme violence. It was the game that sparked congress when Tipper Gore pointed out that this game was not suitable for children. This was the same game that initiated the ESRB. Very significant I say. Mortal Kombat was also responsible for sucking quarters out of little kids pockets at the arcades.

    3. Final Fantasy - Nes
Oh how far has Final Fantasy has come along. Starting of from Nintendo and then jumping ship to Playstation and making a brief stint on Xbox and back to Nintendo. This Franchise has been on nearly every system. Lets start counting. NES, SNES, Gameboy, Playstation, Playstation 2, Xbox, PC, DS, PSP and the WonderSwan. Thats been alot of games. For those of you that don't know what Final Fantasy is, it is a Role Playing Game a.k.a. RPG. It was one of the first RPGs ever to be created for a console. Final Fantasy consistently gave gamers 30+ hours of story line and deep game play. They gave gamers a reason to get to level 99 with max health. Final Fantasy just recently celebrated 20 years in the videogame market. Thats a feat that is hard to touch when they only bring out a new game every 2-6 years. Much love to Final Fantasy, you made summers and winters go by so slowly.

    2 . Resident Evil - Playstation
Didn't expect this one did you. I bet not. With 3 movies and a 4th one coming up in the next couple years, this franchise has been booming. Resident Evil 4 being a smash hit and all the spin offs and remakes of the games, I had to give one of my all time favorites a spot higher then Sonic. If you rememeber this game on the Playstation, the Original game, you would probably remember how scary it was back then. Don't lie either, you probably had nightmares or even pissed your pants cause it was that scary.

    1. Super Mario Bros - NES
It was plump little plumber that could. That could jump over tall pipes, grow up and be a man, and when getting hit by a goomba, shrink and become a child with a mustache. He dove in to our hearts and became an Icon in the American Gaming Industry. Get went from 2-D to 3-D in a matter of nearly 2 decades. He was the first to save a princess in any game. He went on to make Nintendo who they are. He did it with very little violence and no curse words or slang. He transcended gender and age barriers. He even had his own cartoon/live show and had his own cereal(check the link out). He was the first video game icon to be made into a McDonalds(Old Mcdonalds Commerical, I owned every one of those) toys twice. He is what we would call an Icon in todays society.

    Honorable Mention:

    Zelda:Link to the Past
Definitely a great franchise, I definitely have not forgotten about this one. One of the greatest top down games of all time. I love the Zelda franchise, but with Mario and Sonic being the front runners for their prospective systems I had no place to put this franchise anywhere in my top 10.

    Unreal and Halflife
Why did I put these together? Because back in the day they redefined the first person shooter genre. although not on my top 10, they did what Doom could not. Combine great graphics, gameplay, and story. But Doom set grounds for what FPS are today. Thats why these franchises are not on my top.

    Metal Gear Solid
Quirky characters in a serious espionage game? Only works in this title. As we wait patiently for MSG4, we have seen a rough and tough spy grow up to be oh so lovable. With his smoke filled lungs and coarse voice we have seen him team up with a gay ninja and face a pyscho that can read our memory cards. Creepy how this all works together in a spy game. Oh Snake, please smoke more and give us another game after MGS4

This article has taken over a month to write. It was very hard for me to compile a list of games that effected my life since I first started playing NES when i was 5. I would like the readers to comment and compile a list together of their top 10. Im very tired now.

  • Rockstar has delayed the Grand Theft Auto IV release to March 3 of next year. This must mean they're working on multiplayer? One can only hope!

  • 4pftwbig.jpgYup! You heard it,
And not to mention, "It's official" At the end of July, Bungie talked about how they were going to make everyone happy, and make a 4 Player Co-op Campaign mode, Over Xbox Live.
Now that got everyone excited!! But some fans started thinking..
    Wait, Over Xbox Live??

Yes sadly the four player co-op was only going to be over Xbox Live, And 2 Player Co-op would be on your own console. But...
In recent news from Bungie, They decided that not only would they have 4 player on Xbox live, But they would have the 2 player Co-op, YET! You can make it a total of 4 Players over Xbox Live. That means, me and my brother on my console, and 2 other random people somewhere in the world

But once again...Over Xbox live, not everyone has that. So Still kinda of a downfall.
But another exciting feature also allows you to have a system link 4 player co-op.
2 on this xbox, 2 on that xbox.
    So Basically to Summarize..
-2 Player Co-op (One Xbox Consle)
    -4 Player Co-op (System Link)
    -2 Player Co-op (Xbox Live)
    -3 Player Co-op (Xbox Live)
    -4 Player Co-op (Xbox Live)
-2/2 Player Co-op (Xbox Live) *Kinda like system link, just on Xbox Live*

And in case your wondering (Do we all have to play as Master Cheif??)
    Nope,
Player 1- Master Cheif (Middle of Pic)
Player 2- The Arbiter (Left of Master Cheif

Also two new elite characters for your four player co-op.
Player 3-N’tho ‘Sraom (Either Left or Right side of pic)
Player 4-Usze ‘Taham (Left or right side of pic)

    Enjoy :]

  • So Kotaku.com had an interesting article about how and why 360s crap out so much. Heres the actual article. I would love to own an Xbox 360 elite but the horrendous layout and design for the system makes me think twice. I also do not want to ever get my console serviced considering I have never had to get one serviced on warranty in that consoles current generation period. I wish not to start a good trend now on this system. Oh and also the ridiculous battery pack to recharge the wireless controls. Why couldn't they just have integrated the battery into the controller like the PS3 controller and have it charge via USB. I would love to get a Xbox 360 so I can play games like, Crackdown, upcoming Blue Dragon, Overlord, and possibly Halo 3 or BioShock. Im not a huge fan of Halo franchise, but don't get me wrong the multiplayer is pretty fun.
    ::edit::
As for the PS3, hardware is so hard to make games for and the gimmick of motion sensor add ins for games are causing huge slumps and bad reviews for the console. Personally, I bought the PS3 for the amazing line up of games I heard of on launch. Launch games were delayed, and upcoming games in winter of 06 and start of 07 killed the PS3. Just like how it killed the PS2 for gaming. The difference that made PS2 sky rocket was because that the DVD format was already established as the new media format(having no competition). I believe right now, the only a couple things thats keeping the PS3 selling are, 500$ blu-ray player, the decrease in price from 600$ to 500$, and did I mention blu-ray?

Ahh now it comes down to the Nintendo Wii. Amazing. Simply amazing. For being so "next gen" this system has done what the NES did for the mass public. Made games open to the masses. It has made no target like Microsoft and Sony. The biggest flaw currently, gimmicky games, mini game type games (Mario party 8, Raving Rabbits, and Wii Play. The coveted Red Steel was supposed to be the future of FPS but it fell on its face with humility. I personally do not know how much longer Nintendo can sell with out amazing games. As the Wii will surpass the overall sales and become #1, I wonder how many non-gamers buy a Wii. Without that online network, or easy to play online games, I'm guessing at least another 40 million consoles, but with the lowered prices of the 360 and PS3 and the ton of exclusive games coming out to those system, Nintendo will have a nice battle to fend off the previous heavy weights.

My 2 cents since the release of the Xbox news and warranty site

    I own a Wii and PS3

    ::Edit::

    The Bad :

I forgot to mention that now, developers are making Harddrive required games. That basically just destroys the core console selection on the 360.

Also, You know what will keep Sony's "Mercedes of consoles" system in last place? Losing really important exclusive games(Assassins Creed, UT3, Devil May Cry and episodic content for GTA 4) just to name a few.

The GOOD: You might ask me what the good is. Honestly the only good I see is the amazing games coming out this fall and winter season. Halo 3 will be a smash blockbuster hit, Assassins Creed will surely do well, Super Smash will sell about 20 million more Wiis. I see an uproar in all 3 console sales and probably about an increase of 60% in console sales over the last winter season.
